How do you get to the natural pools of Los Charcones?
Access to Los Charcones is easy, but it is important to bear in mind that there are no specific signs or tourist infrastructures in the area. Here's how to get there:
- By car: from Playa Blanca, take the LZ-2 road heading north and then follow the signs to the Pechiguera lighthouse. From here, take a dirt road that leads to the coast. Although the route is not tarmacked, it is accessible to most vehicles if driven with caution.
- On foot: if you love hiking, you can walk from Playa Blanca. The tour lasts approximately 1 hour and offers spectacular views of the ocean and the volcanic coastline.
If you opt for the walking option, we recommend wearing comfortable footwear suitable for walking on rocks. Don't forget water, food and sun protection, as there are no services in the area. And check the tides before visiting Los Charcones, as some pools are safer and more accessible at low tide.
